OK, I may have made a little mistake here. I sort of forgot that after surgery one should convalesce a little bit. After quite serious surgery, a long stay in hospital and when one is taking 2 broad spectrum antibiotics one should convalesce quite a bit.

I’ve actually managed to eat today for the first time in nearly 72 hours which made me feel a little bit better and my mood’s improved as well.

It’s still incredibly depressing knowing that this is only a reprieve and that I’ll have to go through it all again and again until the only thing that can stop it finally happens. Unfortunately the only known solution to this problem is dying which is a little bit further than I want to go just now.

I’ll probably get back to posting in the next couple of days but I need a lot of rest just now so I’m not committing to anything for a few days.

Love

    Oh listen – hugs anyway.

Of course it takes for bloody ever. Antibiotics don’t half knock you back.

I know it’s horrible but you don’t want to get poisoned so you need the keep taking the stuff and there’s precious little chance of feeling much better until you’ve taken the lot and they’re out of your system, is there?

Even then you’ll need to build yourself up again.

Oh, I don’t know – just swear loudly two of three times a day and get it out of your system.

A common mistake of mine, Micky. I never take surgery and its consequences a seriously as I should. About 3 years ago I pestered the nurses all morning because I had a meeting to get to at 13:30. As a result I got told off at hospital, work and home for trying to do too much too soon and ended up off work for 3 weeks anyway.

I’m really crap at looking after myself.

I hope you’re feeling better soon! Of course, we’ll all miss your posts, but you need to take care of yourself.

Thanks, I’m being sensible at last and putting the needs of the body first. I’ll be back blogging in a few days but just now rest is more important.

Soup would be great, tomato soup was my childhood comfort food, and buns are always nice :)

There, my sense of humour seems to be coming back as well!

Hey Mac, Here is another super large hug for you. I am happy to hear you are feeling a little bit better. Yeah surgery can really do a number on your physical and mental health. Please take it easy so you can recuperate quickly, and don’t forget to eat something you need the nourishment to rebuild your strength.

    With much love, JR

Thanks for the hug, I’m feeling a lot better now that I’ve eaten and everything feels a little more positive.

You’d think I’d know by now how hard surgery hits but there are some lessons I don’t seem to be able to learn.

I won’t go into details as the grim story was told a little while ago. What I will say is that the nature of the surgery, and the investigations while I’m still awake, do little to enhance my sense of self esteem. It’s very hard to be nonchalant when 3 doctors and 2 nurses are staring at your arse and discussing it as though you weren’t there.

Fear not, the blog lives on (a bit like me really)

Hello Mac, I get really grumpy when I have gone too long with out eating. I also have a PT at work who has had rectum surgery in the past and she says after all this time it still bothers her. With the scar tissue, and ruptures it is painful for her to void or to even clean up that area.

You have my warmest thoughts and best wishes. Sleep , rest, grumble at the world, laugh with your loved one, and heal. We will be here when you feel better and come back.

    Hugs and love,
    Scottie

It’s mostly the prospect of going through it all again and again that brings me down and when I get depressed my appetite is the first thing to go.

On the good side today (Friday) is the end of the antibiotics and I can start rebuilding the immune system they destroyed alongside the infection.

      Love
      Mac
